General Manager

Our client, a large international group providing technical services to the mining industry is looking for an experienced and capable General Manager to run its operations in Zambia. This is a demanding territory for the Group and, as such, requires a hands on focused individual who will consolidate the existing business operations with a view to maximising profitability, while at the same time avoiding excessive financial exposure and maintaining the Group’s positive reputation world-wide.

As a manager, with proven experience and reputation of operating in Africa, you will be both capable of managing a large and diversified technical team and promoting the Group’s services to the local mining sector. A key element of the role will be to promote profitable business development with the aim of achieving financial and operational goals, whilst maintaining a high standard of service. To do this you will need to :

- Effect the strategic planning process
- Establish effective management structures and systems
- Due to the environment apply appropriate risk management controls
- Ensure effective quality control systems exist and are maintained
- Be a good communicator to your staff, the clients and with the HQ senior management team

You will be the key person on site, managing over 100 staff and will run the operation being in full control of its profitability and business development.
